Team Accomplishments

Over the years the LA Lakers have become one of the NBA’s most winningest teams, winning 26 Division Titles in their 60 year career. The Lakers have also posted 28 Conference Titles, and 14 NBA Championships, including triple crowns in 1952, ’53, and ’54 as well as in 1999, 2000 and 2001. At the end of the 2004/2005 season, the Lakers were also noted from having the highest overall number of wins (2,621), the highest winning percentage in the league (61.9%), the most number of appearances in the finals (28) and the second most championship victories (the Boston Celtics currently have 16). The Lakers also hold the NBA record for the most consecutive wins in a season, posting 33 wins during their championship season in 1971/1972. Kobe Bryant also made Lakers history in 2006 scoring an astonishing 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, a feat rivaled only by Wilt Chamberlain’s heroic 100 point scoring spree in 1962.

A Brief Team History

Since moving to Los Angeles in 1960, the Lakers has managed to successfully dominate the Western Conference, beginning what would ultimately become a defining rivalry with ultra talented Boston Celtics. The Lakers would eventually go one to own the ‘80’s appearing in the finals eight times that decade and winning the coveted trophy another five, including consecutive wins in 1987 and 1988. The team appeared to hit a bit of a slump during the 1990’s, fielding teams that were simply not strong contenders. The dynasty would therefore remain dormant until the 1999/2000 season, when the dynamic duo of Kobe and Shaq took to the court for the first time. The Lakers would remain at the top of their game for the next three seasons, until injures got the best of them in 2003. The new 2005/2006 LA Lakers team is currently tearing up the court this season, as Kobe continues to dominate the scoreboard, providing LAX parking customers with plenty to cheer about during their upcoming vacation!
