When the Brooklyn Dodgers left behind the revered Ebbets Field in New York City, no one ever thought they’d amount to much in the Sunshine State of California.

Man, oh man – were they ever wrong!

The Los Angeles Dodgers first began their run as California’s dream team back in 1958, moving to a brand new stadium and a brand new town. The Dodgers would quickly become one of the leagues most dominant teams, attracting thousands of sun-kissed fans and out-of-town groupies. Considered by many to be one of the world’s most successful professional sports franchises, the Los Angeles Dodgers quickly became a hometown draw, hosting sold-out game after sold-out game (the team would setting the Major League single-season attendance record numerous times). Known for their dedicated fans and fantastic pitching lineup, the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to continue the Brooklyn tradition of appearing in every National League playoff season, winning the Big Dance in 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981 and 1988. An outstanding team for an outstanding city, the Los Angeles Dodgers are ready and waiting to show you some serious baseball during your upcoming trip to LA, so don’t wait! Call and reserve your home game seats today!

Memorable Moments in Dodgers History

  • February 7th, 1958 – The Brooklyn Dodgers officially become the new Los Angeles Dodgers.
  • October 8th, 1959 – The Dodgers win their first World Series, beating Chicago 9-3. Each Dodger player reportedly earned $11,231 for their role in the win. The White Sox also each received a record $7,275 for losing.
  • December 3rd, 1980 – The Dodgers winningest pitcher, Don Sutton, is traded to the Huston Astros. Sutton was 13-5 in 1980 and lead the league with a 2.21 ERA.
  • May 12th, 1997 – Long time Dodgers owner Peter O’Malley announces that he wishes to sell the team to a conglomerate controlled by media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Rupert would later purchase the team from O’Malley on March 19th, 1998 for a reported $311 million – the highest price ever paid for a US franchise.
  • June 18th, 1997 – A game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Anaheim Angeles sees the leagues first Japanese pitching showdown, as the Angels relief pitcher Shigetoshi Hasegawa took to the mound against the Dodgers starting pitcher, Hideo Nomo.
  • June 12th, 2001 – Gary Sheffield becomes the first player in Major League history to win three games with a score of 1-0. He hammered home three solo shots against Milwaukee, Atlanta and Florida
  • April 6, 2002 – The highly anticipated unveiling of Japanese pitcher Kazuhisa Ishii leads the Dodgers to a 9-2 win over the Rockies. During this game relief pitcher Jesse Orosco scores his third run of a 4-decade career.
