Los Angeles has a number of great parks for everybody to enjoy on vacation. Below are a few of the top-rated parks, or you can visit http://www.laparks.org/ for more information. Many are a short drive from LAX parking, so you can enjoy a little bit of fresh air after a long flight!
Griffith Park is located in the Santa Monica mountains on 4100 acres. It offers hiking trails, bridle paths, pony rides, and bike rentals. Also in the park are the L.A. Zoo, a merry-go-round, the Travel Town Museum, Greek Theatre, the Griffith Observatory, the Autry Museum of Western Heritage, and the Bronson Caves. These caves were filmed as Batman’s hideaway as well as used in the movies Bonanza and Gunsmoke. This is a must-see for adventure lovers!
Only 20 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles, this is a nature lover’s retreat with an oak forest and an International Rosarium. There is also an art gallery on the premise, and a Japanese Tea House that is open on weekends!
Located centrally in Los Angeles, this was once home to a farmers market. Today it has several cultural and recreation centers, including a Natural History Museum, the California African-American Museum, the LA Swimming Stadium, and the Science Center. Admission to the park and rose garden are free, but parking and some of the attractions do have a small fee.
This is a traditional Japanese garden on 8500 square feet in Los Angeles. A very tranquil location, this garden feels like an escape from the city. Don’t forget to also check out the Japanese American Cultural Community Center while your here too!
Located just off the UCLA campus, this is one of the biggest botanical gardens in the United States. There are over 5000 tropical and subtropical plants, with tours available to learn more about them! Or, you can walk through the park on your own to relax.
Many of these parks are within a few miles of the Los Angeles Airport, and it is very easy to get to. Parking at LAX is so easy that you can travel to the airport with ease. LAX has thousands of parking spaces in various lots, with free shuttle service to airline terminals is provided around the clock from the main lots. Another option is Johnny Park, an indoor parking facility at LAX. This LAX parking facility is completely enclosed and very secure. There is a ventilation system to protect your car, and the enclosure will protect your car from jet fuel and other air pollutants.
