The Beverly Gardens Park is found along Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards once you leave LAX airport parking and get into Beverly Hills. The park is a nice attraction in Beverly Hills, especially with so much to see here.
Beverly Gardens Park features many cultural and art showcases throughout the year, including the popular "Affaire In the Gardens" art show in the third weekends of May and October. There is also a cactus Garden, Rose Garden, fountains, jogging and walking paths, and arbors to keep you busy while you are here.
At the southwest end of the park, the Electric Fountain is lit by a light show at night. It is modest by modern standards, but when it was built in 1931, it used state-of-the-art technology. This was the fountain that Alicia Silverstone walked by when she realized she loved Josh in the movie Clueless.
The rose garden is a little small, located near Elm Street. There are more colorful flower beds throughout the park. The cactus garden is the real attraction, as it is one of the largest collections in he world. This garden takes up an entire block from Camden Drive to Bedford Drive.
Finally, there is the bronze statue in the middle of the park, called Hunter and Hounds. This statue comes from a banker who went to France to visit the spot where his son was killed in World War I. At the site, he saw the statue with bullet holes from the battle, and had it shipped back to Beverly Hills. Every year, there are memorial services each Armistice Day to commemorate the soldiers.
An Affaire in the Gardens Art Show is four blocks of fine arts and crafts in the park. It is usually held the third weekend on May and October from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. This is a free show that features art by more than 200 artists from all across the United States. There are many different types of art showcased, including photography, painting, sculpture, watercolor, mixed media, ceramics, jewelry, drawings, graphics and prints. This event has been held twice a year since 1973, and is one of the most popular events on the West Coast once you leave LAX airport parking.
Nearby Beverly Gardens Park there are many other famous attractions to visit after you have left LAX airport parking. A little south there is the Good Sheppard Church, where Rudolph Valentino and Bing Crosby attended ceremonies, as well as the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church where Jimmy Stewart's funeral was held in 1997.
Getting here after you leave LAX airport parking is easy. You only need to get to Beverly Hills. This narrow park runs through the heart of Beverly Hills along the north side of Santa Monica Boulevard, from Doheny Drive to Wilshire Boulevard.
